Moral of the story: Great Expectations

I watched a recent film adaptation of Great Expectations tonight – brilliant cast and Helena Bonham-Carter can really do no wrong as Miss Havisham. I know it’s not popular to draw morals of a story but, hey, let’s be rebellious and draw such a conclusion anyway!

Miss Havisham went through an unbelievable heartbreak to the point where she kind of went mad. But was it her fault or the man who left her? I’m not sure why heartbreaks occur…part of the human experience, I suppose. It’s just sad to see unforgiveness, which I’m sure isn’t limited to fiction, consume someone for so long.

Here’s a tip: don’t wear old wedding dresses near a fire.
